(her sister verdera is her horticultural inspiration). growing mangoes, nectarines, peaches, oranges, carrots & yams, nasturtiums, wild ginger blossoms, orange sunflowers, zucchini flowers, birds of paradise, tiger lilies, cannas & orange tulips a flame-colored jungle (her calico cat, Persnickity, currently stalking his own shadow, is spattered with orange too) she glances up at a reproduction of "The Flaming June" she bought at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum last week. even through the cold boston winter, she receives a letter from her sister. . .
